Hey Sean, as you can see I went for something a little complex with a lot of flow. I tried to keep it more towards the major flows that I saw since there's a lot of different flow lines on this.
Yes you're right! this is a very complicated combination of flow shapes! I think you generally got the right idea of grouping up ones that echo one another (we'll talk about this more in class) as this is a common strategy to create cohesion and emphasize directional and converging flow in design. For the Mind Map, it's looking pretty good - for some areas i think you may have included things which could have been broken down further. For example under safety, instead of jumping right to a license is required, you could have had something like 'legal coverage' or something that entails the machine is not meant to be used without some certified (the license) knowledge of its operation - implying this is more used as a method to cover the company for legal liabilities as this product is inherently dangerous. Other things like the life jacket aren't part of the product but are something the manufacturer recommends should be used. Other areas generally look good but could also go deeper and pull from areas like materials to connect the dots: durability > water resistant > Plastic base.
Your sketches are looking pretty good - the vr controller is looking pretty good - i'll have some suggestions in class i'll talk about how you can further break up lines and imply subtle shape variation on these but they're a great start. The gun studies are also well done especially the side view. The front 3/4 has some mild perspective issues with the barrel but its pretty minor. Great start!
